I'r Duw sy frenin fry

The God who reigns on high

(Rhan III)
I'r Duw sy frenin fry
  Mae holl lu'r nef yn un,
A'i llef "Sanct, Sanct, Sanct,
    Arglwydd Dduw,"
  Oll un gyttûn!
"'Rhwn fu, ac sydd yr un,
  Byth bythol i barhau;"
Jehofah mawr yn Dduw a dyn,
  Ein gwared wnae.

O flaen y ceidwad hwn,
  Ymgymant bob yr un;
Diderfyn ras anfeidrol gwn,
  Oedd achub dyn!
Mae grym ei gariad cu,
  Yn ennyn ynddynt hoen
I seinio clôd
    trwy'r bydoedd fry
  'R lladdedig Oen.

Mae'r holl nefolaidd gân,
  Yn moli Duw yn un;
I'r Tad, a'r Mab, a'r Ysbryd glân,
  Byth yn gyttûn:
Henffych Duw Abra'm gu,
  Cyd unaf yn eu cân;
I foli byth yr Un a Thri,
  Fy Mhrynwr glân.

(Part 3)
To the God who is king above
  The whole host above as one are,
With their cry, "Holy, Holy, Holy,
    Lord God,"
  All in agreement!
"To him who was, and is the same,
  Forever and ever to endure;"
Great Jehovah as God and man,
  Who did deliver us.

Before this saviour,
  Bow every one;
Endless immeasurable grace I know,
  It was saved man!
The power of his dear love is
  Kindling in them joy
To sound the acclaim
    through the worlds above
  Of the slaughtered Lamb.

The whole heaven song is
  Praising God as one;
To the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
  Forever in agreement:
Hail to the dear God of Abraham
  I join together in their song;
To praise forever the One and Three,
  My holy Redeemer.
tr. 2021 Richard B Gillion

The God who reigns on high
  The great archangels sing,
And Holy, holy,
    holy! cry,
  Almighty King!
Who was, and is, the same,
  And evermore shall be:
Jehovah - Father - great I AM,
  We worship Thee!

Before the Saviour's face
  The ransomed nations bow;
O'erwhelmed at His almighty grace,
  Forever new:
He shows His prints of love -
  They kindle to a flame!
And sound through
    all the worlds above
  The slaughtered Lamb.

The whole triumphant host
  Give thanks to God on high;
Hail, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
  They ever cry.
Hail, Abraham's God, and mine!
  (I join the heav'nly lays)
All might and majesty are Thine,
  And endless praise.
Thomas Olivers 1725-99
